Music Picks for Saturday March 27

Zydecopious - Big Easy (Zydeco / Cajun)
This Raleigh band is likely the only local act where you can listen to Louisana Zydeco.... These guys, led by Kenny Shore are holding true to this sound and mix it up with some Cajun Country Rock faves - very entertaining, very good and certainly worth checking out. This is a free show - likely will start around 10 or so... www.myspace.com/zydecopious "born in the country" is a great one.....

Funkuponya - Oliver Twist (Funk)
Another Raleigh band that has a niche - funk music. These guys are the real thing with Brian Werner's funk drenched sound from the keys, Leo Kishore on the bass, Doug's guitar riffs and Chris on the drums.... Amazing! I have had them play for a house party and they tore it up. Likewise at shows at the Pourhouse and Berkeley. Look out North Raleigh! This will be a great show to check out... Start time is unknown - likely around 10 or so...
www.myspace.com/funkuponya - check out "Jims Chicken" - its a personal fave...

Caltrop & Static Minds - Berkeley Cafe (Rock)
Berkeley cafe plays host to "Let Feedback Ring Festival" and hosts two powerhouse rock bands:
Caltrop - a Chapel Hill band that is on the Metal side of rock - very good - excellent guitars and some pretty awesome uptempo stuff - there will be some headbangin going on....

Static Minds - a local Raleigh favorite - a Rock band that draws more from the southern rock genre than metal - very very good... Check out my man Lucious on the bass.... Awesome backbeats....
