Pretty Lights - Lincoln Theatre - (Electronica/HipHop Fusion)
Tonight must be the night for Electronica as this is one of two shows tonight in town. This Denver based band is a national touring act and blends elements of Electronica and HipHop for a truly unique sound sometimes called as "Psychedelicamania"... This will be a great show - it is Sold Out - but that does not mean anything - just get there at 8pm or so - when the doors open for any unclaimed tix.... Sci Fi - Pourhouse - (Electronica / psychedelic jazz)
This is the more local of the shows - with Wilmington based Sci Fi headlining the evening. Their sound is more mellow that Pretty lights - more instrumental less vocals.... Really, Really Good lounge music. Blending some great beats and backbeats, their sound incorporates elements of jazz - I liken this to some of the early Thievery Corporation or Den of Thieves material. Bug will open the evening around 10 or so....

Bug and Sci Fi were awesome - Bug had a good bit of vocals - as did Sci Fi - but it was unexpectedly good. Solid sound and a pretty good crowd.....
ReplyDeleteI also caught part of the open mike night at Buku - these guys are very good as well. You need to drop by there for some great eats and good tunes.....
