Music Picks for Friday, April 16

Mike Mickxer - Big Easy (Jam Band)
This trio plays a little bit of everything from Reggae, to Blues to Good Ol Fashioned Rock and Roll. They mostly do covers but they are sure to put their own touches on the song to make it unique. The powerful vocals of BoldMike Davis is worth checking out as is Mick on the keys and Gary on the Drums. Expect them to start playing around 10 or so....

The Movement - Lincoln Theatre (Reggae/Rock)
This Philly Based band has got it going on - they are in the middle of a tour of the Southeast and come to grace Raleigh for Friday night.... This is band modeled after Burning Spear - but with a bit of hip-hop twist. - Uzimon - is also very similar. I know that it seems that Raleigh is in reggae overdose in the wake of the Wailers - but this is not possible - one more night of great Reggae - tonight! Be there!

Cornmeal & Mamas Love - Pourhouse (Jam Band / Bluegrass)
This is a great double-bill with Cornmeal, a Chicago Band - modeled after Leftover Salmon brings it's version of Country/Bluegrass to the stage.... This is great up-tempo stufff and certain to get you dancing.
Mama's Love is a Athens, GA based Jam band - in the same vein of Widespread Panic their tunes are catchy and their riffs can be intense but its great dancing stuff nontheless - this is going to be a hi-energy evening at the pourhouse for sure..........
