Music Picks for Thursday, April 15th

Tax Day!!! Yay!! - Cant wait for the Refund!! Check out the Great Shows Tonight!!!

Watson & Roy - Boylan Brew Pub (Folk / Rockabilly)
Members of The Whistlestop play some of their tunes as a side project. The Boylan Brewpub is the perfect venue for this and their mournful folk songs are masterful and can easily tug at your heart. This is a great opportunity to hear some great tunes in a genre that is rare and hard to do - thankfully this band does it right. Check them out @ www.myspace.com/watsonroy - and listen to "Aubin" - it is masterful.....

The Disco Biscuits - Lincoln Theatre - (Jam / Electronica)
For the 2nd night in a row - the Lincoln Theatre plays host to a heavy hitter in the ths Philly band. For those of you who appreciate Jam Bands, Electronica, or any combination of the two, this band needs no introduction and is the standard-bearer of this genre....... If this show is not sold-out, I would be shocked - get their early!! Check them out @ www.myspace.com/discobiscuitsofficial
If you can find it, check out "Caterpillar" - one of my all-time faves and in the dance rotation at all times....
Local Band Sci Fi opens the evening - get there early!!

Jay Clifford - Berkely Cafe (Rock/ Vocals)
If there were not enough great shows to see tonight - lets add another - this guy is cut from the same cloth of Ben Folds or John Mayer and is masterful. He has made the transition from his band Jump Little Children to a solo career and has been VERY successful in the transition. The silky smooth tenor has won hearts over with the superb music and this promises to be a great and laid-back night and the Berkeley is the perfect venue for this.
Check him out @ www.myspace.com/jaycliffordmusic - and make sure you check out "Invisible Sun" - its awesome!

Old Habits Trio - Hibernian - (Bluegrass)
This local band is the most excellent choice for those of you in need of a Bluegrass fix this evening. The Thompson Brothers are arguably one of the best Bluegrass bands in the area and in the state.... There song "The Creek" is one of my favorites and is on my Ipod for a regular listen...
These guys have been playing for an awfully long time and they have quite the following and reputation in this area and the Carolinas.... I'm hoping that I can sneak in there after the Jay Clifford show....
