Music Picks for Friday, April 30

Rebel Son - Lincoln Theatre - Rockabilly / Honky Tonk
This Raleigh based band is certainly one of the more entertaining bands. Their profanity-laced balads are artful and done in a manner that is not only entertaining but actually amusing.... They are also imensely popular with some getting over 1 million hits. They apeal to the simpler things in life and can make fun at themselves and it's ok.... If that was the only thing, this band would be worth checking out - but there is much, more - all members are very talented musicians and back up the entertaining balads with some pretty darn good southern rock rockabilly.... The balads and the musicianship of the band is the total package. Expect a full house at the Lincoln Theatre for the CD release party for their new release. Doors at 8 - expect Automag to kick things off around 9pm or so...
www.myspace.com/rebelsonband - check out great songs like: "Pinned Down" "Stereo" or "Redneck Piece of White Trash" - and a great song that tugs at your heart strings if you are son of the southland - "Mr. Confederate Man"

Igor and The Red Elvises - Pourhouse (Rockabilly/Surf)
This Venice, CA band in the midst of a national tour.... This is an interesting Niche of music that is very similar to Zydepunks or Debauch - it could be called Gypsy Rock and it's great stuff - different - but very good and an entertaining night nonetheless. For those of you who were not able to catch The Pomigranites last week, this is the show for you - and will certainly enable you to get your ecclectic music fix.
www.myspace.com/igorandredelvises - check out "I wanna see you belly dance"

Atomic Rhythm All Stars - Seaboard Station (Swing, Jazz, Big Band)
Hurray!!!! The Music on the Porch Series is back up and running at Seaboard Station!! The new location is in the Back - Beyond Ace Hardware - by the Peace Asian Resturant.
This Raleigh band has been delighting people in their Jazz/Swing/ Big Band sound for some time and it is a great niche for music of a bygone era - however the music lives on - and is a great way to relax, from the week. This is a Free - Family-Friendly event - so bring your lawn chairs, ect and come out and enjoy an evening of Music.
