Music Picks for Thursday, April 29

The Moaners / Raised by Wolves - Tir Na Nog - (Rock/Garage Rock)
Yet another in the "Local Beer, Local Band" series by WKNC, These bands from Chapel Hill and Charlotte are about to treat you to a night of GREAT music and its FREE!
The Moaners are a Triangle mainstay and they will be sure to tear it up and are using the show as a tune-up for their upcoming show at "40 nights of rock & roll".
www.myspace.com/themoaners - check out new song - "Humid Air" and old fave "Foxy Brown"

Raised by Wolves is a Charlotte based band that features a brand of Garage Rock that while unrefined, are very, very good and run the gambit from rock to indie pop to experimental - they remind me a little of the Rosebuds. I'm excited to see these guys as I think they have a very bright future ahead of them.
www.myspace.com/raisedbywolves1 - check out "Speaking in Mime" - it's awesome!

David Dyer & The Crooked Smile Band - Hibernian Glenwood Ave (Americana/Rockabilly)
This local band has been a fixture for the better part of the last decade - their roots rock, country rock reminds me of Dale Watson or Grayson Capps or The Subdudes. This should be a very, very good show and a great event for the Hibernian. I would live to see the Swinging Johnsons, Johnny Folsom 4 or The Stray Dogs open for these guys.....
www.myspace.com/crookedsmileband - check out "save me" - its very, very good!
This is a FREE show - expect a 10pm start.

Bumble - Busy Bee (Electronica)
Once again - Busy Bee is Hosting Bumble upstairs in the Hive. Come on out and check out one of the better electronica/house sets in Raleigh....
Starts at 10 - really gets going around midnite - this is FREE.
