Music Picks for Wednesday, April 14

The Wailers - Lincoln Theatre - (Reggae)
This Band needs no introduction - anyone who has listened to the radio at any point in their life has heard their material as this group lives on without their Patriarch - the legendary Bob Marley.
This will be a packed show - and will feature as usual, all the great songs from their former albums. If you have a hankering for Reggae, this is the show for you....

Honor by August / Ruse - Pourhouse (Rock/Indie)
This is a Triple header on Mug Nite - Honor by August - a Washington D.C. based band that is in the midst of a National tour. Billed by the Washington Post as "one of the best new talents on the East Coast" they have already made a big splash on the national scene by winning the Grand Prize of BillBoard Magazine's "World Song Contest" and these accolades have fueled their continued success and hopefully will drive them to the next level. If you like Kings of Leon - you will love this band... Check them out @ www.myspace.com/honorbyaugust - check out "unbreakable" - its great...
The Ruse will open the set and this L.A. band is a great band in it's own right and have been sharing this National Tour with Honor by August. Cut from the cloth of Interpol, this is a great band that is looking for it's break and in some ways has done so with cameo apperances on MTV programming as well as an opening gig for U2 last year. This is going to be a great night of music. Check them out @ www.myspace.com/theruse - and be sure to check out my two faves "dance on your grave & Sweetness" as well as former ITunes song of the week "Beautiful is Gone"...
Expect The Ruse to take the stage around 10.... Remember Wednesday is Mug Nite - a most excellent deal....

Roman Candle - Cats Cradle - (Indie Pop)
Now I usually dont promote Chapel Hill shows, I make exceptions for Exceptional Bands. Roman Candle is one of them... This Chapel Hill band has been tearing it up for some time now and makes for an excellent evening of music. The have a loyal and devoted following that will promise to bring some energy to the venue and it will be a great atmosphere and great music evening. For those of you that don't know them, check them out @ www.myspace.com/romancandle & check out "they say" - GREAT song......

Pomegranates - Local 506 - (Indie)
Yet another great band on a night already crowded with great acts - this Cincinatti band can be heard frequently on WKNC - and is and excellent Indie Pop version of the Beach Boys or the modern version of the more mellow The Cure or any other surfer-rock group.... This will be a GREAT show and I'm sorry that I can only be in one place at a time....
Check them out @ www.myspace.com/pomegranatesart & check out "Everybody come outside" or "Beachcomber" - it is TOP NOTCH.....
