Music Picks for Wednesday, April 28

Emmitt-Nershi Band - Lincoln Theatre (Bluegrass)
Drew Emmitt of Leftover Salmon - has assembled a few stars and has formed this band as an alternative to Leftover Salmon. Expect the sound to be more subdued than that - but the Bluegrass is top-notch and I am simply amazed at the perfect harmonization of Drew and Bill. The musicianship is second to none with Drew's mandolin, Andy Thorn (formerly of Big Fat Gap) on the banjo and Tyler's flatpicking - this is going to be a great, great show and is on par with the Great Steep Canyon Rangers of Brevard/Asheville..... Do not miss this show - it is a must!
This is an EARLY - show - expect an 8pm start....

The Grass Cats - Pourhouse (Bluegrass)
This Four Oaks, NC based band is yet another gem in the treasure chest of bluegrass bands in North Carolina. They have been on the scene for the better part of a decade and have had moderate success on the regional and national scene with a handful of National Hits. This 5 pc band offers a little of everything in the bluegrass realm from great balads, to great picking, to great break downs that are conducive for dancing and cutting up....
This is a 10pm or so show - check them out @ www.myspace.com/thegrasscats
